Delivery

What if it's raining on my scheduled installation day?

If rain chances are above 70% or if the sod fields are saturated from prior rains, sod installations will be pushed back. This is more common during the summer months. We will stay in contact and inform you of any changes or possible delays.

What do I do to prepare for the installation?

If you're going to be replacing your entire yard, turn off the irrigation. Make sure irrigation is flagged and have your cable company or 811 come mark your cable lines.

What if i need to reschedule after my job is agreed upon?

We understand delays happen in life and we are flexible. Please notify the office by contacting us here, at least 48 hours before your scheduled replacement.

Installation Process

How soon must I lay sod after it arrives?

If you are having our sod delivered to you we recommend you have your installation area prepped and ready before the sod arrives. We strongly recommend installing the sod within 24 hours of receiving it. If you buy a pallet in the hot summer months don't leave it stacked for longer than 48 hours, it will begin to compost under the extreme weight and heat.

Can I make changes to the job on the day of installation?

Once the job is accepted, a change order is required to make any changes at least 48 hours before the work is scheduled to be done. This policy is in place to ensure we have the proper materials for the job. We will complete the work as described in the quote agreed upon, and we have no obligation to carry out any further work. Any added on requests will come at an additional cost

Do you offer installation?

Yes, we do! Get a gorgeous new lawn with a 60-day warranty, schedule your estimate here.

When is the best time to install sod?

Sod can be installed all year round, but at the beginning of spring or middle of fall would be the would the best times.

Do I need to be home when you're replacing my yard?

No, you don't have to be home when we are replacing your lawn, as long as we have the authorization to perform the work on your property as stated in the accepted quote.

Do we roll sod after it is installed?

A roller machine is used in the final stage of the installation process to get rid of any air pockets and to help the roots make contact with the soil.

Sod Care

How often and how long do I water my new sod?

Water your new sod immediately after installation. Follow the link provided from the University of Florida that explains how to properly water to establish a new lawn: https://blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/okaloosaco/2016/04/07/properly-water-to-establish-a-lawn/

When is the best time of day to water my lawn?

The best time of day to water your lawn is early morning. Later in the day will result in unnecessary evaporation and late in the evening will cause standing water which can lead to fungus and other diseases.
For the best results set your irrigation system so that the last zone finishes 1 hour prior to sunrise. This will give the water a chance to seep into the soil as needed and any excess will be evaporated during the day reducing the chances of disease and fungus.

How long should I wait to mow my lawn after installation?

It is best practice to wait 21-30 days, or until the sod is fully established and the roots have glued the pieces to your existing soil. During the cooler months this process may take longer.

Should I fertilize my new sod?

During the first month it is not recommended to fertilize or treat your sod unless you have pests, such as grubs or webworms, or a disease, most commonly fungus, apparent during this establishment period.

How long is the establishment period?

This time period is dependent on the type of sod installed, but usually in about three weeks, the sod will have shallow roots which will allow for mowing and less watering. It will take about 6 weeks or more for a deep, mature root system to establish.

Some of the sod isn't doing well/turning brown. What should I do?

If you notice your sod is not performing well within the first weeks, please check that your irrigation system is getting complete and even coverage of your lawn. Take pictures of the problem areas and contact us, to find the best solution for you.
